Biography

Selam Tadesse Demissie is a researcher based in the Addis Ababa office of the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), well known for her insightful contributions on regional security issues. Her research focuses on peace, security and governance issues in the IGAD region, which comprises eight countries in the Horn of Africa. Her recent work includes analysis of recent political transitions in Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan, as well as interstate relations in the region to enhance state relations and regional integration. She has been consistently producing articles that delve into the political developments unfolding in the Horn of Africa.

Prior to her tenure at the ISS, Selam served as a consultant and practiced law, showcasing her diverse skill set and commitment to addressing complex issues. She holds a Master’s degree in Peace and Security Studies, awarded by Addis Ababa University.
