Nils Wörmer

Nils Wörmer is the Director of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung’s (KAS) Regional Programme Security Dialogue for East Africa, which has been established in Kampala in August 2022. Before that, he was Head of Department International and Security Affairs of KAS in Berlin. Previously, he was in charge of the KAS  Syria and Iraq office, and also led the Afghanistan program of KAS in Kabul. Prior to that, he has been a Senior Associate in the Middle East and North Africa Division of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP). Nils Wörmer holds a Diploma in Political Science and Islamic Studies. After having served as an army infantry officer in the airborne infantry of the German Federal Armed Forces, he is now a lieutenant colonel in the reserve army of the German Federal Armed Forces.
